Keeping the kids entertained on holiday isn’t always easy, so we’ve put together a summer bucket list with five of our favourite family activities. From adrenaline-pumping adventures to hands-on learning and a touch of history, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy together.
Polzeath, a popular surfing hotspot, is just a short 10-minute stroll from Highcliffe. It's perfect for beginners, and with George’s Surf School on hand, you’ll have expert guidance whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re a seasoned surfer. There’s no better way to kickstart the day than with a fun-filled family session in the sea!
Get ready for Cornwall’s ultimate adrenaline rush - the Mega Slip and Slide! This promises wet and wild fun for the whole family. Launch from a thrilling 3.5-meter (11.5 ft) high tower and race down a jaw-dropping 120-meter (393 ft) long slide. An unforgettable experience that’s sure to get your heart pumping and your spirits soaring.
Set on the stunning North Cornish coast in Crantock, Halwyn brings together Feasting Barns, a 15-bay Trackman Driving Range, and a beautifully crafted mini-golf inspired by the Cornish countryside.
After perfecting your swing on the range, indulge in a mouth-watering meal from Halwyn’s locally sourced menu – featuring beef from their own family farm and ingredients that are grown just down the road.

Enjoy a relaxed family ride along a scenic disused railway path that winds its way beside the beautiful Camel Estuary. Start by hiring bikes in Wadebridge from Camel Bike Hire, then cycle your way to Padstow - a gentle journey that takes around an hour. Once there, enjoy a tasty treat from Rick Stein’s famous Fish and Chips, or head to one of our favourite spots, Sabzi — a vibrant Middle Eastern deli offering fresh, seasonal salads.
Located in Falmouth, the Maritime Museum is one of the UK’s most family-friendly spots.
Wander through 15 galleries spread across five floors, hop aboard real boats, take in the views from the 100 ft Lookout Tower, or dip below sea level in the Tidal Zone. There’s plenty to discover, from ocean adventures and survival stories to sailing miniature boats in the Boat Pool.
The Rock Oyster Festival is packed with fun for the whole family, offering plenty to keep little ones entertained and inspired. Budding chefs can join the Rick Stein Kids’ Cookery School for hands-on classes designed to spark a love of cooking. Creative kids will love the Aardman Animations workshop and for some high-energy fun, Flotsam’s family-run circus invites children (and adults!) to try their hand at juggling, hula hooping, and even unicycling in a relaxed and welcoming space.
