A Guide to Rock, North Cornwall

Less than a 10-minute drive from Highcliffe, you’ll find the village of Rock. Sprawling along the Camel Estuary, it’s known for its watersports, thriving food scene, Caribbean-like beaches and, of course, the prestigious St Enodoc Golf Course — if that’s your thing.

Shops

It’s also one of the first places we recommend for picking up supplies for your holiday. There’s Philip Warren Butchers & Fishmongers, an extremely well-stocked Spar (trust us), Malcolm Barnecutt’s Bakery and Fee’s Food, an upmarket deli serving homemade meals, wine and fine foods. You can find pretty much everything here, without needing to set foot in a supermarket.

On The Water

The Camel Estuary is a brilliant place to spend time on the water, whether it’s waterskiing, a sea safari, dinghy sailing or even a fishing trip. Getting out on the water offers a completely different perspective of the coastline, and makes for a great family activity too.

Eating Out

Rock has become a well-known foodie hotspot, with some of our favourites including Four Boys for seafood and pasta, The Mariners for hearty pub food, and the Sailing Club for a low-key pint by the water.

Take The Ferry

The Rock to Padstow Ferry is one of the quickest (and most fun) ways to get to Padstow. Running every 20 minutes, this dog-friendly service operates all year round.

A Gentle Wander

The Camel Estuary is lined with Caribbean like beaches, with soft white sand. Dog-friendly all year round, and a great place to burn off some steam after lunch.
