With over 400 miles of coastline, Cornwall has no shortage of wild, beautiful beaches to explore. At Highcliffe, we have a wonderful collection of dog-friendly properties, so you’ll never have to leave anyone behind. Here are a few of our favourite nearby beaches where dogs are welcome all year round.
This is one of the nearest beaches to Highcliffe, located just a short 10-minute walk away. The long stretch of golden sands is backed by sand dunes and the towering Brea Hill. Dogs will love running around and taking a dip in the rock pools here, whilst you enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Camel Estuary. Top tip - if you want an extra long dog walk then make sure you visit Daymer Bay at low tide, as you can walk all the way to Rock on the beach.
Set on the banks of the River Camel, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rock Beach is a favourite spot for dog owners in North Cornwall. The village itself is lively with marine activity - sailing, paddle boarding, and all kinds of watersports, so there’s always something to watch as you wander along the shore.
This beach is a hidden treasure in the Rock area. The sheltered cove boasts clear, shallow waters perfect for splashing around in and it has a private feel to it, even though it is just around the corner from Rock.
Tucked between Daymer Bay and Polzeath, Greenaway is a hidden gem best reached on foot. At low tide, the rocks give way to shallow pools - perfect for paddling. As evening falls, there’s nowhere better for a family BBQ, with the golden light stretching across the sea and the sun setting on the horizon.
These popular harbour villages are not well known for their beaches, but the small sections of sand and shingle are very sheltered and perfect for pottering around with your dog for some fresh air. It’s just a short 10-minute walk between the two ports, with Cornish pubs in the heart of both. Situated less than a 20-minute drive from Highcliffe, these are great beaches to visit during the colder months, before cosying up in front of a roaring pub fire.
